Once you’ve started eating potato chips, it’s hard to stop until there’s nothing left in the bag. This well-loved snack comes in a wide range of flavors, including the Filipino favorite, salted egg. Another food that many of us can’t get enough of is pasta, which is perfect to eat at any time of the day. Then there's also Hainanese chicken that's irresistible when dipped in chili and soy sauce.

Wondering where to get these treats? Pasta Man, Krunchy Patatas, and Upper Thomson are here to satisfy your cravings for pasta, chips, and Hainanese chicken.
Creating Something Out of Nothing

In 2016, Stanley Chong put up Saveur Foods and Snacks Inc., which includes Krunchy Patatas, The Pasta Man, and Upper Thomson. While the company is not as big as others, it is dedicated to pursuing something better.

“Well, the business started out of my personal mission to make something out of nothing. Being in a Chinese family, it is a tradition that we are supposed to work for the family business. I think it is driven by that personal mission to be known for something I created hence giving birth to Saveur Foods and Snacks Inc. Since 2016 makers of Krunchy Patatas, The Pasta Man, and Upper Thomson.”

According to Stanley, they want their business to be inclusive. By inclusive, it means they deeply care about their staff and are committed to excellent customer service. They also ask for their stakeholders’ input to help them determine which products to create as well as the best ways to sell them.

“Krunchy Patatas was our biggest test, harshest business lesson, and realization that you need to listen to all stakeholders starting from your staff, customers, wholesalers, delivery personnel, even the security guard of our clients’ stores because they know how the foot traffic is at any time of the day.”

The Art of Giving Back
Because of the pandemic, they learned to be more resilient and started offering more products to the market. Despite the situation, they were still able to give back even in small ways.

So far, they have donated 1,000 packs of noodles and 1,000 cans of sardines to Manila City. Recently, they handed two COVD-19 test swabbing booths to the city, hoping this simple initiative will go a long way. Stanley mentioned that giving back should be in the mind of business owners as without the public, there will be no business at all.
