Lolo’s Famous Recipe

In 2016, Kris and Cholo Mendoza decided to let the public have a taste of their delicious sans rival cake. The recipe originated from Kris’ grandfather, whose name is Cipriano, hence the name of their business.

After working in a tech startup for years, Kris got burned out and had the urge to try something new. At that time, she also recently married Cholo, who had always heard great things about their family’s favorite dessert, her lolo’s (grandfather’s) famous sans rival. Unfortunately, when the couple started dating, Kris’ grandfather had already passed away, the reason Cholo never got to taste the well-loved cake.

Luckily, Kris’ mom still had her grandfather’s 50-year-old sans rival recipe. They consider this family recipe as their gold standard of sans rival. It’s extremely buttery, nutty, and most importantly, chewy. As Kris mentioned, they are #TeamKunat all the way. Just for fun, she attempted to recreate the cake for her family. Of course, it turned out well, and the rest is history.
