A Hotelier’s Story of Resilience

Amid these trying times, Filipinos’ resiliency comes as a no surprise, being left with no choice but to make ends meet to survive. The owner of Baked by The Diva is a hotelier who ventured into online food business when the hospitality industry was badly hit by the pandemic. Armed with her past experience in selling and her family and friends’ encouragement, she opened her own food business.

Just a quick trivia. The shop’s name, Baked by The Diva, is inspired by the owner’s little Yorkshire terrier named Diva, but she makes sure she is out of the cute dog’s reach whenever she bakes.

What Does the Diva Bake?

With no preservatives and artificial ingredients added, Baked by The Diva only sells made-to-order and freshly-baked products. What makes her more credible is that she follows strict sanitation measures to ensure the products are safe for consumption.

Launching her business endeavor, the owner began selling freshly-baked turnovers, which require her 2-days lead time because she makes her own dough and fillings from scratch. Among the fillings, the crowd favorite are the creamy spinach and creamy chicken.

The owner, a self-confessed fan of Japanese cuisine, then expanded her business to sushi and avocado bakes. These baked treats are only made with premium-quality and fresh ingredients and perfected with her own special sauces.

Creating a healthier alternative for the sushi bake, the owner whips up avocado bakes with no mayo and sugar added. A guilt-free version, as she likes to put it.
